Group Portrait Photography at CQI HQ, Furnival St, London

A Large Group Portrait can pose a number of problems for the Professional Photographer especially when space is limited. These were shot for a Quality World Editorial at their Central London conference room, originally the idea was to use a white scooped background, but Marcus Harvey felt there was not enough width to the location studio space.

Being a Portrait Photographer in London...

…one gets to see all manner of building interiors . Today I was at the International Maritime Organisation, London, to take a Portrait of Tatjana Krilic for a CQI Editorial. I have walked past this building on Albert Embankment many a time, it’s the one with a seven metre high Bronze Bow of a ship protruding from the entrance of the building, it’s known as The Seafarers Memorial, however, I have never been inside. As you can imagine its interior holds many references to ships and general maritime fare. One thing that caught my eye on my reccy for suitable backgrounds to Photograph against was this huge lighthouse optic from Orfordness Lighthouse. It was decommissioned in 2014 having been in service for 99 year, and what a beauty she was, and fantastic to ping a light through to produce an interesting Portrait.

Portrait Photography Shoot in the Heart of London

A little Portrait assignment in the sweltering heat of London today at Care Fertility, lots of anti-shine powder and air-con set to sub-zero kept the clients and Photographer happy.

Printing Your Own Portraits/Photos

For a moment I thought this article was about actually getting into the Darkroom in order to print from a negative, unfortunately not! That, for me at least, was where all the magic happened and it is what drove me towards Photography while studying on my Art Foundation Course. It was the immediacy of the medium, not as immediate as a digital process, but definitely more magical. I miss the Darkroom and the Black and White Process; it was hands on and allowed you to physically place your mark onto the silver, you certainly could not beat a Black and White Portrait printed onto a heavy Fibre Based Paper Stock with an inkjet.

Editorial Portrait shot for Hallmark Living Magazine

It was lovely to meet George ‘Bill’ Lockey for an editorial portrait shoot outside of London this weekend for Hallmark Living Magazine…Bill, a 96 year old World War Two veteran had a knack for survival, and a steadfast positivity on life, he was a really interesting person to photograph and an absolute gentleman to boot.

Editorial Portraiture Session at the CQI HQ in London

I met the lovely Dr Margaret Rooney at the CQI photo studio in London today in order to take her photograph for an editorial piece for Quality World Magazine. I was able to use my Godox 600 Pro light for the first time as the main light source and I must say it coped very well during the portrait session, producing consistent colour balance in all of the edited portraits.

Corporate Portraiture Photography in the Heart of London

Thank you to the lovely staff at The Raj Hotel in Victoria today for sorting out an outside space for us to shoot some portraits of the Management Team of Dimension Data at such short notice. We got some lovely ambient light shots in the hotel courtyard when it was decided that the room we were to shoot the portraits in was too small.

Great Location for a Portrait Photoshoot

At the Ritz Hotel, London, with my new chum Yuri, celebrating his 30th wedding anniversary with his beautiful wife Natalie. The Ritz kindly allowed us to make an impromptu shoot on the main lobby staircase and for the time pressure we had we thought we captured some really natural portraits!
